<p>A few months ago we launched <a title="Edelson McGuire" href="http://www.edelsonmcguire.com" target="_blank">EdelsonMcGuire.com</a>, a Chicago based law firm with offices in Florida, New York and Los Angeles. The firm practices class actions, &#8220;bet the company&#8221; cases, political and legal consulting and Labor law.</p>
<p>The main objective of the website was to depict EdelsonMcGuire as much more than just lawyers in a courtroom, but as a group of smart, talented tech-savvy people with diverse personalities and interests beyond the legal profession.</p>
<p>With that basic goal we created a design strategy and established a creative platform for representing each lawyer as a &#8216;stat card&#8217; and put a fun and interesting twist on it. Each lawyer was asked to fill out a questionnaire in as much detail as they wished to give, the responses were overwhelming and helped shape content structure and overall design direction.</p>
<p>Another goal of the site was to capture the pulse of the general public. We accomplished that by creating two features to accompany each featured case. By taking keywords from each case, the site does a daily search on specific blogs and returns relevant blog posts to the feature case page. Similarly the site also pulls relevant tweets from twitter to show the constant discuss about these cases.</p>
<p>The site was build in HTML, CSS and Javscript. All the asynchronous loading and animation is jQuery and the entire site was developed within the Python framework using the open source software Django.</p>

<p>At FRESHTHRILLS we&#8217;re never afraid to highlight and share work that inspires us. This time around we stumbled upon a great example of solid brand identity and packaging design.</p>
<p>The example in question is a new line of skin care products by Lilli Gordon called <a title="First Aid Beauty (FAB)" href="http://www.firstaidbeauty.com/" target="_blank">First Aid Beauty</a> or FAB. <a title="Deborah Adler" href="http://www.deborahadlerdesign.com/" target="_blank">Deborah Adler</a> <em>(the designer who developed the <a title="Target ClearRx" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ClearRx" target="_blank">ClearRx</a> packaging for the <a title="Target Corporation" href="http://www.target.com" target="_blank">Target Corporation</a>)</em> designed the identity and product packaging,  we think it&#8217;s amazing and worth highlighting here.</p>
<p>We can&#8217;t wait to see how the brand is applied to a website.</p>

<p>A few days ago I was struck by this very interesting website. Not for its design or attractive colors but by the fact that it&#8217;s a smart, thoughtful and well executed piece of advertising.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s called <a title="GOOD Harmony Ecosystem Prius" href="http://awesome.good.is/ecosystem/#/home" target="_blank">Harmony</a> and it&#8217;s a sort of How-To guide from <a title="GOOD Magazine Harmony Ecosystem Prius " href="http://www.good.is" target="_blank">GOOD magazine</a> sponsored by Prius. In typical GOOD magazine&#8217;s content, the site offers facts and figures about what we as humans can do to help the environment.</p>
<p>This concept is well executed and the marriage of the GOOD magazine content and <a title="Toyota Prius Advertising Good Magazine" href="http://www.toyota.com/prius" target="_blank">Toyota&#8217;s Prius</a> is a natural fit that doesn&#8217;t seem forced or inauthentic.</p>

<p>In the process of research or just looking for general inspiration we&#8217;re often drawn to unique and interesting places.  We&#8217;re often impressed with small companies and start-ups because they are examples of  making the most with what you have and we can identify with that.  We like to keep our studio small and focused on creating the best brand experiences for our clients.</p>
<p>We&#8217;re highlighting this simple and delightful range of dairy products by <a title="Healthy 10" href="http://www.drinkhealthy10.com" target="_blank">Healthy 10 </a> founded by Rod Dorman an entrepreneur with true passion and an appreciation for good design.  Rod says his creativity is &#8220;<em>expressed in the form of product development and business&#8221;</em>.  However, it is this studio&#8217;s opinion that design and product development are essential recipes in developing a successful brand or product.</p>

<p>We first redesigned <a title="Vision On" href="http://www.visionon.com" target="_blank">Vision On</a> back in 2006. After a successful 3 year run, we were asked to top it.  Our client expressed that search engine optimization and a robust content management system was a key business objective for the re-design.</p>
<p>With a new goal of increased visibility we set out on a path to bring Vision On&#8217;s main marketing vehicle up to date. Building on our experience with the client and the photography, retouching &amp; digital capture industry we set out to create a new website that met his goals.</p>
<p>Our team of design and developers focused on clean modern design, with easy to use navigation and search engine optimization. <a title="Django" href="http://www.djangoproject.com/" target="_blank">Django</a> was used as the framework to establish a new architecture for which we will continue to build upon.</p>
<p>A few months later we successfully launched the new website and have shifted our attention designing and developing new marketing programs to fit within the website.</p>

<p>I love food, who doesn&#8217;t?  But I especially love food photography and for issue #18, <a title="The Magazine" href="http://www.thememagazine.com" target="_blank">Theme Magazine</a> combined my love of food photography and typography into a striking cover photo from the issue&#8217;s fashion story. With warm and simple photography by <a title="Photographer Ryuhei Shindo" href="http://www.rshindo.com" target="_blank">Ryuhei Shindo</a> this cover is intruding and delightful.  Time for lunch I&#8217;m hungry.</p>
